On 13 and 14 November 2023, the conference “YOUTH – ACTION – CULTURE – Towards Cultural Democracy” will be held at the CCC in Caldas da Rainha. The aim is to gather reflections and data that will enable an addendum to the Porto Santo Charter to be drawn up, where emphasis will be placed on young people’s perspective on access to culture and the role of culture in promoting democracy, emphasising the structuring contribution of cultural and artistic education (formal and non-formal) in empowering this generation, today and in the near future.

In this context, the National Arts Plan, the European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the UNESCO Chair in Arts and Culture Management, Cities and Creativity, the Polytechnic of Leiria, the Caldas da Rainha School of Arts and Design, the Caldas da Rainha City Council and other organisations, national and international organisations, are joining forces to discuss strategic convergences between the youth, education and culture sectors, with a view to designing policies that promote young people’s cultural rights in a democratic society and, specifically, the role of cultural and artistic education in shaping cultural citizenship.

Nos dias 13 e 14 de Novembro de 2023, no CCC das Caldas da Rainha, realiza-se a conferencia ”YOUTH – ACTION – CULTURE – Rumo à Democracia Cultural”. O objetivo é reunir reflexões e dados que permitam elaborar uma adenda à Carta do Porto Santo, onde será dada ênfase à perspetiva dos jovens sobre o acesso à cultura e sobre o papel da cultura na promoção da democracia, enfatizando o contributo estruturante da educação cultural e artística (formal e não formal) no empoderamento desta geração, hoje e no futuro próximo.

Neste contexto, o Plano Nacional das Artes, a European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education, a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, a Cátedra UNESCO em Gestão das Artes e da Cultura, Cidades e Criatividade, o Politécnico de Leiria, a Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha, a Câmara Municipal de Caldas da Rainha e outros organismos, nacionais e internacionais, unem esforços para discutir convergências estratégicas entre os sectores da juventude, educação e cultura, tendo em vista o desenho de políticas que promovam os direitos culturais dos jovens na sociedade democrática e, especificamente, o papel da educação cultural e artística na formação da cidadania cultural.
