Programming and Cultural Production

The Degree in Programming and Cultural Production is one of the only degree courses in Portugal dedicated, simultaneously, to the areas of programming, curatorship, management and artistic production. To a solid theoretical basis in the field of artistic studies, this degree combines a practical aspect in which skills are exercised at all stages of the construction of artistic projects. Students learn to work with artists, musicians and other authors and to develop sustainable cultural projects.

 

The practical side of the degree is supported by a set of structures, both internal and internal and external, which host the events programmed and produced events programmed and produced by the students. Among these, the Cubicle stands out: an exhibition space designed specifically to host these activities and which is located on the school’s own premises. In addition to UNESCO Chair in Arts and Cultural Management, Cities and Creativity – Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, The José Malhoa Museum, the Arts Centre, the Centro Cultural e de Congressos das Caldas and Caldas da Rainha – Cidade Creative City of UNESCO are some of the municipal bodies that collaborate with the course.

 

The degree has a teaching staff with active and continuous practice in the areas of curating, programming or producing events, collaborating and developing partnerships with international and national institutions such as Culturgest, CCB, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação de Serralves, Lisbon Architecture Triennale, Experimenta Design, Rede Cultura 2027, Luzboa, Anozero – Bienal de Arte Contemporânea de Coimbra, Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, Sismógrafo, Teatro do Silêncio, Coletivo OSSO, Grémio Caldense, Silos – Contentor Criativo, Leirena Teatro, Maus Hábitos or Associação Zé dos Bois. The internship that the students complete at the end of the of the course tends to be carried out in these or other cultural organisations of reference, seeking to endow the student with a knowledge of excellence in professions such as exhibition curatorship, consultancy and management of cultural projects, communication and production of artistic support contents the programming of festivals, the planning, coordination and production of events in public or private organisations.
